Meet Karen C. Eddington:

Mother, Entrepreneur, Motivational Speaker, Author/Illustrator

Karen wrote The Landmark List as an additional resource for people who are struggling. Karen spends hours each week interviewing teens, working with women and interacting in the business community. "One day I was looking at my notes, research and resources and I was amazed at the common threads. No matter the pressures, I noticed common factors that were pulling people through. More people need access to this information."

Karen is also the author and illustrator of the book “Today, I Live… A Gift of Peace for Girls at any Age.” She wrote the book after women were making countless requests for her resources on self worth. Her passion for "worth and purpose" education is traced back to her high school and college experience in the cheerleading industry. She felt intense pressure to be thin, to look a certain way, and to perform to be accepted. These emotions motivated her to reach out to others feeling similar pressure.

Karen focused her college thesis on Eating Disorder and Body Image education where she researched over 500 high school students. Her efforts were then focused on teen leadership as she coached high school cheerleading for a number of years. She led her 2005 team to be named the “top all around program in the nation” with features at UCA nationals and on ESPN (Varsity Spirit Corporations American School Spirit Award- www.varsity.com).

Karen has been an instructor of Marketing and Entrepreneurship and has helped students write a business plan and has spent time interviewing business owners along with her students. In 2006, Karen decided to apply her entrepreneurial instruction and created the non-profit organization, Cauliflower Retreat. In just two years, Karen increased participants by 20 fold, set up funding and established on-going partnerships and networks in the community. Karen is the president of the organization and feels her best moments are when she is, “sitting right there on the floor, talking about the difficulties of self esteem with our mentoring participants.”

Karen shares, “Many people in careers, in the home, and in the community are going through life without truly understanding how remarkable they are. If we can build an awareness of why it is hard for us to be confident… if we truly give ourselves a chance… if we can recognize our gifts and talents, we will change the world.”

Her passion for leadership and living life to the fullest is inspiring people across the nation. Her most requested presentation is “Today, I Live…Finding Peace at any Age.” She is energetic, genuine and funny. Some of you may be picturing Karen in wonder woman spandex, holding a glowing corporate report, and a homemade loaf of bread… however, Karen often introduces you to her arch nemesis of “Super Woman” and can help you understand why we are all wonder women. She is married to licensed marriage and family therapist, Cory Eddington.
